United States Immigration

This workshop will be presented in English and Spanish language, and will cover:

  • Different tracks for applying for humanitarian status in the United States.

    • Asylum: Concept: For those persecuted due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or social group.

    • TPS (Temporary Protected Status): A temporary status (not a Green Card) for people from specific countries deemed unsafe due to war or disaster (e.g., Haiti, Venezuela, Ukraine).

  • What to Expect in Immigration Court

  • Information for contacting the Office of New Americans

  • Information for contacting the Central American Refugee Center (CARECEN NY)
