Help with issues that impact your life

At Legal Hand, our highly trained Volunteers, who are not lawyers, provide free legal information, assistance and referrals to help you resolve issues that affect your life in areas like housing, family, consumer debt, immigration, domestic violence, public benefits, employment and many more.

Legal Hand Volunteers are both local community members and law students who are committed to helping prevent problems from turning into legal issues.

When Legal Hand Visitors are facing legal actions, our Volunteers can assist you by providing relevant information on the law and assist with court forms.

Legal Hand Values:

  • All are welcome and treated with respect and dignity.

  • No appointments necessary.

  • All are assisted regardless of income or immigration status.

  • In addition to normal business hours, we are open evenings and Saturdays.

  • Furthers the contribution that individuals, who are not lawyers, can make to expand access to justice.

Neighbors helping neighbors since 2015.

Legal Hand provides information and assistance to Visitors to help them resolve problems before they become court cases, and empowers Visitors to help themselves.

Our Volunteers are neighbors helping neighbors. Many of our Volunteers know someone who has been through similar situations to our Visitors, or have been through it themselves.

Legal Hand is also engaged in community outreach and conducts workshops at community events on Know-Your-Rights sessions and establishes relationships with local community-based organizations.

“Our goal with the Legal Hand Centers is to break down barriers between the community and the justice system...This will lead to more just outcomes, more crises averted, less litigation, and money savings for our state and local governments.”
